Manner Hill Wins G3 Manion Cup
SYDNEY, March 16 AAP - Earlier Waterhouse's five-year-old entire Manner Hill led throughout to win the $100,000 Manion Cup (2400m). Manner Hill, an expensive yearling by Danehill out of Caulfield Cup winner Mannerism, scored his first win over 2400m in the Group Three Manion Cup. "You never know we might have a good staying horse on our hands," Waterhouse said. "It's no good with a mother like his (Mannerism) if he can't stay. "They gave it to Chris (Munce) on a plate. Indeed, Munce took Manner Hill straight to the front and was able to dictate terms to suit. Manner Hill covered his final 600m in a quick 34.26s which virtually made it impossible for the back markers, including the well backed Jack Denham pair Gillespie and Asia, to make leeway down the running.
