Breeding & Racing Article

Springfields Stud 1st-crop stallion Freeze (Marscay-Snowdrift, by Polish Precedent) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly A Touch Of Frost (Freeze-Whiz Bang Lady, by Semipalatinsk) scored over 1200m at the Gold Coast in Queensland at her 2nd start for trainer Alan Bailey. A Touch Of Frost was a $5,000 yearling consigned from Stratheden Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

Eternal Wealth (Freeze - Tuft by Lorenzaccio) impressively wins Doomben trial on the bit in the 2nd fastest time.
Now likely to contest the big Juvenile Championship (Singapore Group 3) S$200,000 on Friday, 24 July 2009 over 1200m

Heat 14 2Y-TRL Distance: 900 metres Track: Good Time: 0-54.06 Margins: 1 Len x 6 1/2 Len

Both Freeze progeny to appear in public have now shown winning ability. This from only 12 live first crop foals!! We have heard strong reports about the ability of others yet to be named. A Touch of Frost was backing up over 1200m after running a closing 4th over 900m on a heavy track only 7 days prior to her win. A very tough 2yo performance indeed.

Freeze has served 63 mares in 2008 at Springfields Stud for at least 61 positive pregnancies, including the dams of recent city winners Umanugget and Moppet. His book also included half sisters to a number of stakes winners as well as many young city winning mares. A feature of his book are dam sires who are currently high on the general and 2yo sires lists.

Freeze is off to a flying start, stay tuned for more excitement.
