11th and 12th Juvenile Winners for Exceed and Excel

Wednesday, 4 February 2009

Exceed and Excel is renowned for his ability to get two year-olds and added his 11th and 12th juvenile winners this season within the space of an hour on Wednesday when Miraculous Miss and Sunday Rose both saluted on debut.

The Mark Kavanagh trained filly Miraculous Miss was first home at Ballarat, ridden quietly from barrier one by Michael Rodd, she was allowed to find her feet and then surged home to win the 1000 metre fillies maiden by a length.

We got a bit behind with her for the Magic Millions and Blue Diamond, so thought this would be an easy race for her and then we might look at the Adelaide Magic Million, said Mark Kavanagh.

Miraculous Miss was purchased by Kavanagh for $350,000 from the Stratheden Stud draft at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is a full sister to last seasons stakes-winning juvenile Outdo, being from Group One placed Galway Lass (NZ).

Galway Lass is a half-sister to Group Two MVRC Oaks winner Pure Harmony from the family of VRC Oaks winner Tristanagh, so there is plenty on the pedigree front to suggest Miraculous Miss will be more than just a speedy juvenile.
